RAYMOND CLAMP CAUGHT WITH CHILD, ANIMAL, AND ADULT INDECENT IMAGES IN SELBY
In November 2012, a man from Selby named Raymond Anthony Clamp faced serious criminal charges related to the possession of a vast collection of indecent images.The charges included hundreds of illicit images depicting children, adults, and animals, highlighting the severity and disturbing nature of the case.
The incident came to light when North Yorkshire Police executed a search warrant at Clamp’s residence on Baffam Lane, Selby, on July 31.
The police action was prompted by intelligence suggesting that Clamp’s computers contained illegal material.
During the search, officers seized multiple computer devices for forensic analysis, aiming to uncover the extent of the illicit content stored on the premises.
Prosecutor Sandra White outlined the findings to the court, revealing that the police discovered a significant number of indecent images across two computers.
On the first computer, authorities found a total of 1,346 images classified at the lowest level of indecency, along with five images categorized as Level Two, ten as Level Three, and six as Level Four.
The second computer contained 14 images at Level One, two at Level Two, eight at Level Three, four at Level Four, and notably, two images at Level Five, which is considered the most serious level of indecency.
The images included photographs of young girls, some under the age of four, and others up to approximately 12 years old.
Some images depicted these minors with adult men, further emphasizing the disturbing nature of the material.
In addition to the child exploitation content, the computers also stored 369 images classified as extreme pornographic material.
Police also uncovered five video files showing sexual acts involving a live animal, which is a grave criminal offense.
Among the illicit content was an indecent image of cartoon characters Bart and Lisa Simpson, adding a bizarre and disturbing element to the case.
Raymond Clamp, aged 56, appeared before Selby Magistrates’ Court and entered a plea of guilty, confirming his identity and address during the hearing.
His admission to possessing these illegal images means he will face sentencing at York Crown Court later in the month.
As part of the legal process, Clamp was released on unconditional bail and was ordered to register as a sex offender, a standard procedure in cases involving sexual exploitation and indecency charges.
This case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat the distribution and possession of illegal and exploitative material, especially involving minors and animals, which remain a significant concern for public safety and child protection authorities.
