EUGENIO AVELERIA SENTENCED FOR STRANGER RAPE IN EALING
In a case that has shocked the local community, Eugenio Aveleria, a 29-year-old man from Ealing, was handed a significant prison sentence after being convicted of a brutal stranger rape that took place in the London borough.The sentencing occurred at Isleworth Crown Court on Wednesday, 15 May, where Aveleria received a term of 12 years and two months behind bars.
Additionally, he will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, a measure that underscores the severity of his crime.
The incident in question happened on the evening of 28 June 2021.
The victim, a young woman aged 23 at the time, had just finished her workday at around 8:00 pm.
She decided to unwind with some drinks alongside her colleagues, a common social activity after a long day.
Afterward, she made her way back to a nearby residence where she was staying.
However, upon reaching her destination, she encountered an obstacle: she was unable to gain entry into the building.
Exhausted and possibly intoxicated, she ended up unconscious on the pavement outside the house.
It was at this vulnerable moment that Eugenio Aveleria found her.
He approached her initially with what appeared to be an offer of assistance, asking if she needed help.
Instead of helping her, he led her to his nearby residence on the same street.
Once inside his home, Aveleria took advantage of her compromised state.
During this assault, the victim was in and out of consciousness, which made her unable to resist or fully comprehend what was happening.
The assault concluded around 4:00 am, when Aveleria forced the victim to leave his house.
Following the incident, she contacted a colleague via text message, explaining that she could not attend work the next day because something terrible had happened.
She also reached out to a local support organization, Haven, to seek advice and assistance.
This step was crucial in initiating a formal investigation into the crime.
Law enforcement authorities responded swiftly.
A sexual offences investigative techniques officer was assigned to the case, working closely with the victim to gather detailed descriptions of her attacker, including his physical appearance and residence.
Thanks to her cooperation and the diligent efforts of the police, the suspect was identified and located.
On 30 June, just two days after her report, officers from the Predatory Offender Unit arrested Aveleria at his home address in Ealing.
Throughout the legal proceedings, Aveleria pleaded guilty to the charge of rape on 3 January 2023.
His conviction and subsequent sentencing reflect the justice system’s recognition of the gravity of his actions and the importance of protecting the community from such offenders.
