RAHUL ODEDRA'S SHOCKING TOXIC SECRET IN QUEDGELEY SCHOOL TOILETS REVEALED
In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the Gloucestershire community, Rahul Odedra, a former science teacher from Quedgeley, has been sentenced to over four years in prison for a series of voyeurism offences involving covert filming in school toilets.The offences, which spanned nearly a decade and took place across three different educational institutions, were uncovered after a brave pupil noticed Odedra attempting to film up her skirt and reported her suspicions to authorities.
During the court proceedings at Gloucester Crown Court, it was revealed that Odedra, aged 46, had been persistently and deliberately placing small cameras in school toilet facilities.
These devices, which were secured with Blu Tack, were strategically positioned either facing the toilet bowls or hidden within toilet roll holders, allowing him to secretly record females using the facilities.
The court heard that some of these cameras were as small as two inches and were found in Odedra’s personal belongings, including his teacher’s bag.
Prosecutor Anjali Gohil detailed the extent of Odedra’s illicit activities, stating that police seized over 200 videos from his devices.
These recordings predominantly featured women and girls, with some footage focusing on voyeuristic angles such as looking up skirts or capturing women in the act of using the toilets.
While the majority of the videos depicted adult females, the court was also shown cropped footage of children, raising serious concerns about the potential targeting of minors.
Odedra admitted to police that he had filmed these acts and expressed feelings of remorse and shame.
However, he denied deriving any sexual gratification from the recordings, claiming instead that he was motivated by the thrill of filming.
His defence argued that his actions were driven by a compulsive desire rather than sexual intent.
In court, Odedra pleaded guilty to 20 counts of voyeurism, two counts of making an indecent image of a child, and one count of attempting to create such an image.
The offences, which occurred over an eight-year period, took place at three different schools and another unspecified location.
Judge Ian Lawrie QC sentenced Odedra to four years and three months in prison, emphasizing the severity and deliberate nature of his crimes.
The judge described Odedra’s actions as a “toxic secret” and highlighted the significant harm caused to his victims, even if he was unaware of the full impact at the time.
As part of his sentence, Odedra was ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for life and was subject to a sexual harm prevention order.
The case has raised serious concerns about safeguarding in educational environments and the importance of vigilance in protecting students and staff from such invasive and criminal behaviour.
