DARCY WOODS-BROADY'S SHOCKING CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN QUEDGELEY REVEALED
A former police officer from Gloucestershire, Darcy Woods-Broady, has been officially recognized for her involvement in multiple child sex offences, leading to a finding of gross misconduct within her professional conduct review.Woods-Broady, who was employed by Gloucestershire Police, was sentenced in August 2024 at Worcester Crown Court to a two-year prison term. However, this sentence was suspended for two years, meaning she will not serve time unless she commits further offences within that period.
She pleaded guilty to seven counts of engaging in sexual activity with a girl under the age of 16. The misconduct hearing, which examined her actions, concluded that she would have been dismissed from her position without notice had she not already resigned from her role. This indicates that her departure from the police force was voluntary but prompted by the severity of her misconduct.
Deputy Chief Katy Barrow-Grint of Gloucestershire Police publicly emphasized the department’s stance, stating that there is “no place in the service for those who commit such serious offences.” Her comments underscore the gravity with which the police force views her actions and the importance of maintaining integrity within law enforcement ranks.
The offences took place over a period from October 2022 to March 2023, during which Woods-Broady was 20 years old, and her victim was only 15. The misconduct involved assaulting the girl at various locations, including her home and her vehicle, despite Woods-Broady being off-duty at the time.
Authorities conducted a thorough investigation, seizing her electronic devices, which revealed messages, images, and videos linked to the offences. Woods-Broady admitted to having a sexual relationship with the minor and acknowledged that she was aware the girl was under 16 at the time. It was also confirmed that she had been a police officer for just six months before she was suspended from duty.
In addition to her suspended prison sentence, Woods-Broady has been placed on the police barred list, effectively banning her from holding any law enforcement position. She has also been subjected to a five-year sexual harm prevention order and will be required to notify authorities of certain details for the next ten years.
Deputy Chief Barrow-Grint condemned her actions, describing them as “exploiting a vulnerable child and engaging in sexual activities over several months.” She stressed that Woods-Broady’s conduct was both morally reprehensible and legally wrong. The officer further explained that her actions constitute gross misconduct, and had she not resigned, she would have faced immediate dismissal from her police role.
