MOYHEZ JUSAB FROM QUEDGELEY SENTENCED FOR ONLINE GROOMING AND INDECENT PHOTOS INVOLVING 15-YEAR-OLD GIRL

In a case that has shocked the local community of Quedgeley, Moyhez Jusab, aged 45, faced justice after engaging in a disturbing pattern of online grooming and exploitation involving a teenage girl. The incident, which came to light in February 2016, revealed that Jusab had attempted to persuade a 15-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity through social media platforms.

Jusab, a resident of Pendock Close in Quedgeley, pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including inciting the girl to have sex, grooming her, and possessing two indecent photographs of her. His actions resulted in a prison sentence of 32 months. The court heard that despite his previous good character and employment as a manager, Jusab’s conduct was deeply troubling.

According to court proceedings, Jusab had used a false identity to initiate contact with the girl online. His motivation appeared to stem from dissatisfaction with his marriage, which he described as dull and troubled. His wife has since initiated divorce proceedings, highlighting the breakdown of their relationship.

The case was brought to light after the girl contacted Merseyside Police on February 19 of the previous year. She reported being threatened by a man she knew as ‘Mark’. The girl disclosed that over the past year, she had been in contact with him via Snapchat and Kix social media, during which he had sent her money, jewelry, and other gifts. Her distress grew when she entered a new relationship in October 2014, which Jusab did not approve of. His behavior became increasingly controlling and demanding, culminating in threats to harm himself if she refused to meet him.

Feeling trapped and frightened, the girl reached out to Childline for help, who advised her to contact the police. Her victim impact statement revealed her deep emotional turmoil, stating she hated herself for her actions and described herself as a “complete mess.” She explained that her destructive behavior was a coping mechanism, and she had experienced panic attacks. Her trust in others had been shattered, and she expressed disbelief at how long and how convincingly he had lied to her.

Defense lawyer Sabhia Pathan described the case as tragic, emphasizing that Jusab’s actions were out of character and that he had used social networks as an escape from his unhappy marriage. She explained that he initially believed the girl was over 18, as the platform he used was intended for adults only. It was only after six months of communication that he learned her true age of 15, which he accepted.

Judge Michael Cullum sentenced Jusab to 32 months in prison, commenting on the impact of his actions. He stated, “You were in a marriage which was unloving and unhappy. That appears to have been the catalyst for your disastrous descent into an online relationship and criminal sexual offending. The labels and the restrictions that will follow you will change your life forever.”

Following the sentencing, Sergeant Nigel Hatten of Gloucestershire Police’s Child Sexual Exploitation Investigation Team highlighted the importance of awareness and support. He remarked, “This is a very sad case with many typical hallmarks of child sexual exploitation. Thankfully, the victim sought help – and the key message is that there is support there – from Childline before we became involved. Doing that was brave but crucial. No one should be put through what this girl was put through and if you are going through that then please don’t feel ashamed or afraid to come forward. You are a victim and we have specially trained people who can help.”
