PRESTON MAN JAILED FOR DRAGGING WOMAN INTO FLAT AND RAPING HER
A man named Quarashi Suliman from Osborne Street, Preston, was found guilty of a serious sexual offense after dragging a woman into his flat and raping her.The incident occurred after the victim, a 43-year-old woman, had been on a night out in town and briefly interacted with Suliman in a bar.
The Court heard that around midnight, she left to get a taxi home but was followed by the 22-year-old Suliman, who entered the same taxi and provided his address to the driver.
Upon arrival, Suliman forcibly dragged her out of the vehicle by her wrists and led her into his first floor flat, where he raped her.
The victim attempted to leave multiple times but was pulled back repeatedly before managing to escape and seek help from neighbors.
PC Dan Armstrong described Suliman as 'a dangerous and predatory sex offender' and emphasized the victim's bravery in reporting the crime.
Suliman was sentenced to eight years and four months in jail, with the court highlighting the severity of his actions and the impact on the victim.
The court also expressed hope that the sentence would give the victim closure and serve as a warning to others who might commit similar acts.
