LONDON MAN JAILED FOR LIFE FOR WIFE’S MURDER OVER INFIDELITY
A man who viewed his wife's affair as a personal insult to his dignity has been sentenced to life in prison for her murder.Prabodh Maisuria, aged 52 and residing in Hayes, west London, was aware for twelve months that his wife Ela, aged 46, was having an affair with her employer, as was revealed in court at Blackfriars.
Ultimately, Maisuria attacked her with a knife while in his vehicle, and afterward falsely told police and family members that she and the car had gone missing during his shopping trip.
The judge mandated that he serve a minimum of 13 and a half years.
Ela Maisuria's body was discovered in Southall, west London, in October, about a week after she vanished.
Suspicion arose when Maisuria joined relatives to search for her and pretended to stumble upon her remains by chance.
He later admitted to the killing but claimed it was manslaughter motivated by provocation.
In sentencing, Judge Timothy Pontius stated: 'Evidence clearly shows that over roughly a year, she sought companionship and possibly solace from another man in a sexual relationship, and your response to this was one of anguish and shame.
It is also apparent that, influenced by your upbringing and cultural and religious values, you managed your family with strict principles.
Therefore, infidelity was seen by you not only as an insult to your pride but also as a source of shame within your community.'
