MAN GIVEN EXTENDED 18-YEAR SENTENCE FOR ATTEMPTING TO ARRANGE SEXUAL ABUSE OF GIRLS AND WOMEN IN ONLINE CHATROOM
A man from Lynn who attempted to coordinate the sexual abuse of women and underage girls via an online chatroom has received an extended prison term of 18 years.Law enforcement officials state that the digital evidence left by offenders such as Phillippe Campbell enables authorities to identify and prosecute them effectively.
Campbell, aged 45, was sentenced by Norwich Crown Court yesterday after being previously found guilty on three counts related to arranging or facilitating child sex crimes.
He was also convicted on three counts of encouraging or aiding the commission of an offence.
These crimes took place in Lynn from September 1, 2019, through February 18 of the following year.
The court handed down a sentence of 12 years in prison, with an additional six years on licence.
Judge Stephen Holt, who imposed the sentence, described Campbell’s conduct as 'shocking,' noting even his 40 years of experience in the justice system found the behavior particularly egregious.
During an interview following his arrest, Campbell identified two victims whose details he had shared online.
All those identified as being his victims were notified immediately, and safeguarding measures were put in place.
