PHILLIP TURNER FROM THORNTON SENTENCED TO 28 YEARS FOR MULTIPLE RAPE OFFENSES
In a case that has shocked the local community of Thornton, Phillip Turner, a 58-year-old man, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being found guilty of committing a series of heinous sexual crimes. The court proceedings revealed that Turner was responsible for the assault and rape of a total of three victims, which included two women and a young boy. The severity and depravity of his actions were underscored during the trial, with Preston Crown Court describing his crimes as 'thoroughly wicked.'Turner’s conviction was based on substantial evidence presented during the trial, which included charges of multiple rapes and an additional count of incitement to commit a serious sexual offence. The impact of his crimes on the victims was profound and deeply troubling. It was reported that the young boy, in particular, suffered severe psychological trauma, which led him to attempt suicide on multiple occasions, highlighting the devastating effects of Turner’s actions.
The court heard that Turner’s offending had a lasting and damaging effect on his victims, with the court emphasizing the gravity of his crimes. As a result, Turner was handed a substantial sentence of 23 years in prison, accompanied by an extended license period of five years. This extended license means that Turner will be under supervision for an additional five years after his release, should he serve the minimum required time.
Furthermore, the court mandated that Turner must serve at least two-thirds of his sentence before he becomes eligible for parole. Even then, his release will only be granted if the parole board determines that he no longer poses a threat to society. The sentencing reflects the serious nature of his offences and the need for ongoing supervision to protect the community of Thornton from any potential risk posed by Turner in the future.
