CAMBRIDGESHIRE MOBILITY-SCOOTER STALKER JAILED AFTER VICTIM WOKE TO HIM STANDING OVER HER BED
A man who infiltrated a woman’s bedroom while she was sleeping has been sentenced to prison.Phillip Robinson, aged 40 and from Warboys in Cambridgeshire, gained entry to the victim’s house by climbing through an unlocked window before ascending the stairs on 11 June.
The woman woke up during the intrusion, and as her TV illuminated the room, she recognized Robinson standing at the foot of her bed as her neighbor.
Her family managed to remove him from the property, but Cambridgeshire Police stated this was part of a broader pattern of stalking behavior she had endured.
Robinson had been sitting on his mobility scooter at the end of his driveway, observing the woman’s home, and attempted to engage with her whenever she went outside, although she tried to avoid him.
Subsequently, he started frequenting a communal pathway near her garden, often parking his scooter facing her residence.
Robinson was detained on 12 June for stalking and was released on bail with conditions not to contact the victim or visit her street.
However, he violated these conditions multiple times subsequently, leading to re-arrest.
In police interviews, Robinson claimed that the victim had been flirting with him but admitted she never shared her name.
He also stated that he believed she had texted him inviting him into her home, though he later acknowledged he was mistaken, as no such message was sent.
At Peterborough Crown Court on Wednesday, Robinson received a sentence of two years and three months in prison after pleading guilty to stalking that caused serious harm and distress.
DC Alan Tregilgas, the investigator, commented: “Robinson’s behaviour was despicable, it was a frightening experience for the victim in her own home where she should feel safe.
“Stalking is a horrendous crime, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the victim for her courage and bravery in reporting this to the police.
I hope this sentencing provides her with some sort of closure.”
