PAEDOPHILE WHO COMMUNICATED WITH WHAT HE THOUGHT WAS A TEENAGE GIRL ONLINE HAS BEEN JAILED
At the age of 55, Gary Dennett sent messages on a dating app to a girl who was in fact a decoy from an online child protection campaign group.The chat shifted to a different messaging platform, WhatsApp, where authorities found hundreds of sexually explicit messages, some of which included requests for the girl to perform inappropriate acts on herself.
This evidence led police to identify and arrest Dennett at his home located in Croxton, near St Neots, in March 2024.
A mobile phone taken from his residence revealed 17 indecent images depicting a girl.
On Tuesday, April 7th, in Peterborough Magistrates’ Court, which functioned as a crown court, Dennett, of Abbotsley Road in Croxton, was sentenced to three years and two months behind bars.
He pleaded guilty to charges including attempting to cause or incite a girl aged 13 to 15 to engage in sexual acts, trying to communicate sexually with a minor, and making a child’s indecent image.
