A MAN WHO DRAGGED HIS GIRLFRIEND OFF A SOFA BEFORE BRUTALLY ATTACKING HER HAS BEEN JAILED FOR FOUR YEARS.
A 33-year-old man from East Cambridgeshire who has no fixed address was convicted of assaulting a woman after she asked him about his unhappy demeanor in February last year.He first verbally abused her, then forcibly pinned her down on a sofa using both his knee and hand.
Webber then dragged her by her foot, causing her head to hit the floor and giving her a punch to the eye.
Over the following month, he accused her of flirting with a friend and assaulted her by hitting her head against a windowsill and punching her multiple times.
The victim escaped the situation, leading to her reporting the incidents to police and Webber’s subsequent arrest.
She also revealed to officers an assault in November 2022, when Webber, intoxicated, lost his temper after she mentioned seeing his ex-partner in Littleport.
Though a relative tried to intervene, Webber punched her in the face.
During the investigation, authorities obtained an audio recording of Webber threatening to punch the victim so she would lose her teeth.
In that recording, the victim can be heard asking him to leave and telling him to “get off,” but he declared he was “not done” and was not afraid of jail because he had “nothing to lose.” On March 6, Webber appeared before Cambridge Crown Court and received a sentence of four years in prison, plus two years on licence after release, having pleaded guilty to two counts of actual bodily harm and possession of a knife in a public place.
DC Leah Beckett stated, “This campaign of abuse was terrifying for the victim.
Webber’s violent behaviour was despicable, and I’m pleased he has faced justice.
“No person should have to suffer this kind of abuse and I would like to applaud the woman’s bravery in supporting a prosecution.
I would also like to thank members of the public who alerted us to what was happening.
She added: “We would strongly urge anyone who is a victim of domestic abuse, or if you are worried about someone experiencing abuse, to contact police.”
