PHILLIP DUTFIELD'S HORRIFIC CHILD SEX OFFENSES IN GILLINGHAM AND KENT

In a series of disturbing incidents spanning over a decade, Phillip Dutfield, a former Army captain from Gillingham, Kent, has repeatedly been linked to the possession and distribution of child abuse images and extreme pornography, including bestiality.

His criminal history reveals a pattern of heinous offenses that have shocked the local community and prompted ongoing legal proceedings.

Back in November 2004, Dutfield was first arrested when police raided his residence in Gillingham.

During this operation, officers discovered a collection of indecent images of children, along with extreme pornography involving bestiality, stored on his computer.

The investigation uncovered that Dutfield had downloaded these materials from the internet, citing a 'morbid interest' as his motivation.

He admitted to possessing ten indecent images of children, with the most severe being classified at level five, the highest level of abuse severity.

At the time, Dutfield was working as an administrator at a home for individuals with learning difficulties.

Following this initial arrest, Dutfield was sentenced in January 2006 to six months in prison.

The court was told that he had also been found in possession of drugs, including diazepam and temazepam, which he claimed he had taken for his heart condition.

His home was also searched, revealing CDs, floppy disks, and a computer hard drive containing the illicit material.

Dutfield, who had previously served in the military, admitted to downloading various types of material because of his 'morbid interest.' His criminal record grew more extensive over the years.

In April 2010, Dutfield was jailed for an additional 16 months after police found indecent images of children and extreme pornography, including bestiality, on his mobile phones, a memory stick, and a digital camera.

This breach of his sexual offences prevention order (SOPO) was considered a flagrant violation of court restrictions, as he had been explicitly prohibited from owning devices capable of internet access.

Despite these restrictions, Dutfield had continued to access the internet, including at the University of Kent's Chatham Maritime campus between September 2012 and November 2013.

Further troubling details emerged when it was revealed that Dutfield had unsupervised contact with a young girl in July of the previous year.

He also denied allegations of similar offenses involving a young boy, with the court leaving that charge on the file for future proceedings.

It was noted that Dutfield was taking medication daily for his heart condition and had been working as an administrator at a care home for individuals with learning difficulties at the time of his arrest.

Most recently, in July 2015, Dutfield faced new charges after he was caught accessing the internet at the University of Kent.

His defense argued that his pacemaker required Wi-Fi connectivity to function properly and that prison conditions might impede this.

His legal team suggested that the lack of Wi-Fi in prison could potentially prevent his pacemaker from being monitored correctly, which they claimed posed a health risk.

The court was told that Dutfield's previous breaches of court orders, including owning devices capable of internet access, demonstrated a pattern of non-compliance.

The judge, Jeremy Carey, agreed to postpone sentencing until August 2 to allow for further investigation into the Wi-Fi issue, remarking that Dutfield's case was unprecedented in his experience and might set a precedent for future cases.

Throughout his criminal history, Dutfield has shown a persistent pattern of illegal activity related to child exploitation images, despite multiple convictions and court orders designed to prevent such behavior.

His case continues to be closely monitored as authorities seek to determine appropriate sentencing and measures to prevent further breaches.
