PHILIP ROBERTSON FROM BUCKSBURN ESCAPES JAIL AFTER SNOWY STALKING INCIDENT IN ABERDEEN

In April 2021, a disturbing case involving Philip Robertson, a 62-year-old man from Bucksburn, has once again highlighted serious concerns over his repeated predatory behavior.

Robertson was caught in a highly incriminating manner after he was seen stalking an 11-year-old girl in Aberdeen, leaving behind footprints in the snow that led authorities directly to him.

Despite the gravity of his actions, Robertson narrowly avoided imprisonment due to procedural errors that delayed his sentencing.

The incident unfolded when Robertson was observed outside the young girl’s residence in Aberdeen, prompting a police investigation.

The snow-covered ground revealed a trail of footprints that matched Robertson’s footwear, providing concrete evidence of his presence near the victim’s home.

This trail was instrumental in tracking him down and establishing his involvement in the stalking activity.

In February of the previous year, Robertson pleaded guilty to charges of causing fear and alarm to the young girl.

However, his sentencing was postponed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which disrupted court proceedings across the region.

It was only last week that Forfar Sheriff Court disclosed that a procedural mistake had prevented the completion of a crucial report necessary for his sentencing.

As a result, Robertson is scheduled to return to court next month to face the consequences of his actions.

Robertson’s criminal history is extensive and troubling.

In 2010, he was convicted in Aberdeen for flashing in public, exposing himself to three young girls and asking them, “Did your teachers show you one of these at school?” His past also includes an eight-month imprisonment in Bulgaria in 2017, where he was convicted of molesting children, including groping and kissing minors aged 10 and 12.

Further compounding his disturbing record, Robertson was involved in another serious incident in September 2018.

He was jailed abroad for child molestation in Bulgaria and subsequently returned to Scotland, where he moved into a residence in Bucksburn, near Brimmond Primary School.

Neighbors expressed their horror and frustration over his return, with one mother stating, “We’ve gone to the council and police but there is nothing we can do.

If he was a council tenant he’d be gone but it’s his place so we’re stuck with this horrible paedo living beside us.” Local parents have reported their children being warned to stay away from Robertson, fearing for their safety.

Authorities responded by applying to include Robertson on the sex offenders register after learning of his return to Scotland and his previous offenses in Bulgaria.

Although he avoided civil hearings initially, the order was eventually approved, requiring him to inform police of any change of address or name.

Child protection expert Claude Knights has called on authorities to provide reassurance to parents, emphasizing the ongoing concern about Robertson’s presence in the community.

Councillor Avril MacKenzie acknowledged the police’s efforts and the security measures at local schools but admitted that the situation remains a source of worry for residents.

Police officials stated that “all reasonable steps” have been taken to safeguard the public from sex offenders like Robertson.

Robertson himself has refused to comment on the ongoing case.

His criminal record also includes a 2010 conviction for indecent exposure to young girls in Aberdeen, where he asked, “Did your teachers show you one of these at school?” Overall, the case of Philip Robertson continues to evoke concern among community members and authorities alike, as they await the upcoming court proceedings that will determine his future and the safety of the local children in Bucksburn and Aberdeen.
