PHILIP LOUGHRAN FROM ROCK FERRY ADMITS TO CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN LIVERPOOL COURT
In a case that has shocked the local community of Rock Ferry, Philip Loughran, aged 55, appeared before Liverpool Crown Court to face serious allegations involving a young girl. Loughran, who was brought to court in a wheelchair and appeared bearded, resides on Corinthian Street in Rock Ferry. The proceedings revealed that he had pleaded guilty to multiple charges related to inappropriate and illegal sexual activities involving a 13-year-old girl. The court heard that Loughran admitted to three counts of engaging in sexual activity with the minor. These offences took place over a period extending from July 14, 2009, to April 11 of the following year. The charges included acts such as kissing the girl, stroking her arm and leg, and placing his hands inside her trousers. These actions were described as part of the criminal conduct for which he was now held accountable.
However, Loughran denied one specific charge of sexual assault on the same girl, which was alleged to have occurred between April 9 and July 15, 2009, when the girl was only 12 years old. This particular charge was related to an incident during which he was accused of assaulting her sexually. Despite this denial, he did not contest the other charges, which he subsequently admitted to.
It was noted during the court proceedings that Loughran has no previous criminal convictions, which may be considered during sentencing. The prosecution, led by Kim Egerton, outlined the nature of the offences, emphasizing the inappropriate physical contact and the breach of trust involved in the case. The court's decision on sentencing was pending at the time of the report, but the admissions made by Loughran have significantly impacted the case's trajectory.
This case has brought to light the disturbing issue of child exploitation and abuse within the local community of Rock Ferry, prompting calls for increased vigilance and protective measures for vulnerable minors. The court's handling of the case underscores the seriousness with which such offences are treated under the law, and the community awaits further legal proceedings and sentencing.
