CLEVELAND POLICE DETECTIVE PHILIP LAMB FACES SACK AFTER CONVICTION FOR ASSAULT
A police officer is facing the sack after he was convicted of beating his partner during a drunken row at her home.Detective Constable Philip Lamb will undergo an accelerated misconduct hearing on November 7 following his criminal conviction.
The 47-year-old was found guilty after he tightly grabbed the woman’s arms when she tried to get him to leave following a violent night out, Teesside Crown Court heard.
The officer faces one allegation of breaching the standards of professional behaviour regarding Discreditable Conduct.
The force states this breach is so serious it qualifies as gross misconduct.
At his sentencing, the court heard Lamb was cleared of a charge of intentional strangulation from the incident on September 14, 2023.
The woman reported impacts on her physical and mental health since the assault.
Lamb, of Quebec Grove, Billingham, was convicted of assault by beating at the same court.
Recorder Thomas Moran sentenced Lamb to a 12-month community order with 27 rehabilitation days and 50 hours of unpaid work.
He was also issued a five-year restraining order and ordered to pay £500 in court costs.
A Cleveland Police spokesperson said, “Philip Lamb has been suspended since our investigation resulted in criminal charges.”
