Philip Evans, of Osprey Drive, Dudley, was ordered to serve at least 18 years in prison after being found guilty of Joshua Miller's murder.
The 36-year-old had pleaded not guilty.His co-defendants Philip Tolley, aged 46, of Duncan Edwards' Close was jailed for 12 years for his part in the brutal attack.
Trevor Bate, 32, of Holland Street, Dudley, was caged for 10 years.
Both were cleared of murder but convicted of manslaughter.Miller, of Wellington Road, was found in his living room by police in January after being struck several times by a gas bottle in a frenzied attack.The 66-year-old had suffered multiple fractures to his head, face, ribs and had internal injuries.Giving his verdict at Stafford Crown Court on December 21, Mr Justice Fulford said: "This form of vigilante justice can never be accepted in a civilised society."
