OFFENDER BREACHES COURT ORDER CLAIMING HE WAS NEW TO MOBILE PHONES
A man named Philip Davison, residing in Holme Park Court in Berry Brow, was involved in a case where he breached a court order not to contact his ex-partner.He was handed down a non-molestation order in January of that year, which prohibited him from contacting his former partner, using or threatening violence towards her, and going to her Dewsbury home.
The prosecutor, Shamalia Qureshi, explained that the couple had parted ways after six years together.
Despite the court order, he made two unanswered phone calls to his ex between January 20 and 22, and again on March 3, claiming he did so by mistake, asserting that he was 'new to mobile phones.' The court heard that he attended her address in St Peter's Gardens, but a neighbor called the police, leading to his arrest.
Davison admitted to breaching the court order and attempting to breach it, asserting that he had mistakenly dialed the victim's number, claiming he was unfamiliar with the technology and did not intend to call her.
His second offence was when the victim invited him to collect his TV, which led to a friendly conversation; however, a neighbor, who disliked him, saw him there and called the police.
Davison pleaded guilty and was fined £85 for each breach, with additional court costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.
