Radcliffe man jailed for 15 years for child sexual assault and possession of indecent images

RADCLIFFE MAN JAILED FOR 15 YEARS FOR CHILD SEXUAL ASSAULT AND POSSESSION OF INDECENT IMAGES

A sexual predator from Radcliffe who preyed on young girls and took horrifying pictures of them has been sentenced to 15 years in jail.

Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court heard that Peter Wright targeted a young girl, whom she confided in her mother about what had happened.

Wright was found to have sexually assaulted her in multiple ways, including touching her breasts.

Following the assault, the girl contacted her mother, leading to Wright's arrest shortly afterward.

Police recovered a device containing indecent images of the girl and recordings of the sexual assault.

Wright had also taken indecent images of another girl.

Wright, aged 53 and residing on Douglas Chase, denied his misconduct, claiming during his trial that he had no memory due to a possible parasomnia condition.

Despite his claims, a jury convicted him of four counts of sexual assault of a child, two counts of making category C images of children, and one count of making category B images.

Victims and their families spoke about the profound impact of his actions, with one girl stating, “I can’t look at my body in the same way again.

I can’t feel safe around men,” and describing the need for ongoing therapy.

The judge, Matthew Corbett-Jones, sentenced Wright to 15 years, designating him as an offender of particular concern, making him eligible for parole after a minimum of ten years.

He was also ordered to be on a lifelong sex offenders register, subjected to a sexual harm prevention order, and banned from contacting his victims for 15 years.
