2005: MAN JAILED FOR INDECENT ASSAULT ON TWO GIRLS IN RADCLIFFE
2005: A man aged 37 has been sentenced to three years in prison following his conviction for indecent assault on two young girls at his former residence in Radcliffe.Kevin Cook, now living in Leeds, denied four counts related to touching the girls, who were approximately 11 years old during the incidents that occurred in 1995 and 2001.
The jury reached a verdict of guilt last month, after which Cook appeared before Bolton Crown Court for his sentencing.
Prosecutor Jim Storrie highlighted that Cook exploited his authority when committing the assaults and noted his history of violent convictions.
Defense counsel Abdul Iqbal argued that Cook has a new partner and a three-month-old child, requesting leniency to avoid prolonged separation from his family.
Judge Timothy Clayson sentenced him to three years, commenting on the trauma inflicted on the victims by stating that Cook’s actions made them feel shameful, dirty, and embarrassed.
He added that the first girl hesitated to disclose the abuse for several years, and underlining Cook’s continued denial and lack of remorse, the judge described the offenses as very serious, warranting a custodial sentence.
