PETER JONES IN NORWICH INVOLVED IN CHILD SEX OFFENSES AND ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES

In July 2017, Peter Jones, a 56-year-old man from Norwich, known for his previous convictions related to child sexual abuse images, was reported to be offering his luxury Aston Martin for rent at £60 per ride, specifically targeting school children heading to proms. On his Facebook page, he promoted the service by stating, “Cool ride to school,” and inviting youngsters with the words: “Looking for a cool ride to your Prom. James Bond style, what better way to arrive, chauffeur driven Aston Martin.” The vehicle, a distinctive red Aston Martin, bore his personal registration plate. Despite his criminal background, Jones has also set up a 'man with a van' removal and delivery business, following his release from another prison sentence for theft involving £1 million. However, he did not disclose that he served two years and four months for downloading extreme child abuse images, nor that in a separate case he was sentenced to four years after stealing nearly a million pounds in bequests—funds intended for charities, which he embezzled while managing clients’ estates. His history of convictions began in 2003 when he received a one-year prison sentence for child abuse image offenses and attended a course aimed at preventing re-offending. Yet, he reoffended and appeared in Norwich court in 2012, where he was jailed for 16 months after admitting to making and possessing indecent images of children, some depicting adults raping minors. Police found that Jones, a former director of Heritage Legal and Financial Services, had downloaded material both at work and on his personal devices, including two images of extreme pornography. Judge Nicholas Coleman noted that Jones's case revealed a clear obsession or addiction to such material, despite him attending an internet sex offender’s treatment program, which he said “did not work,” emphasizing that “Your lust is no excuse.” A defense argument claimed Jones has an “addiction to pornography.” In 2015, Jones received another four-year sentence for theft from his firm, which he used to fund property investments and settle debts, after admitting two counts of theft and one of fraud. When questioned about his 'prom service,' Jones claimed he had ceased bookings and that his daughter was driving the Aston Martin. Nevertheless, the vehicle was still listed for rent on his Facebook business page, Easy Shifter. A photo of a teenage girl arriving at a prom was quickly deleted after media inquiry. Jones also asserted that his removal company did not engage with children, although a flattering review from a client was posted by someone with a profile photo apparently depicting her young children. The Sun was tipped off by a member of the public via the UK database, a website that tracks offenders, revealing his ongoing promotional activities. Historically, Jones’s criminal record includes multiple convictions for possessing indecent images since at least 2003 and 2012, with police uncovering images at his work and home computers, including extreme content involving animals. He was placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register in 2003 for 12 months and again in 2012, after which he was subject to a sexual offenses prevention order prohibiting internet access to indecent images and restricting contact with children. His lawyers argued that Jones’s addiction was long-standing and that he would benefit from further treatment, with his wife supporting his efforts to seek help. The authorities continue to monitor and address his multiple criminal behaviors, highlighting the ongoing risks posed by his actions.
