FEMALE POLICE OFFICER CHARGED WITH BEATING IN NORWICH
A police officer from Norfolk continues to serve in her role despite facing court proceedings on assault allegations. The 28-year-old officer, who is stationed in North Walsham, has not been suspended following the charges.
PC Demi Colk pleaded not guilty to two counts of assault by beating concerning the same male victim during her appearance at Ipswich Magistrates’ Court.
Her next court date is scheduled for May 15 at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court, where a case management hearing will be held.
The alleged incidents are believed to have occurred in Norwich between April 1 and April 8, 2024, and are unrelated to her police duties or official actions.
Court records show she resides in Postwick near Norwich and continues to work under restricted duties.
In the UK, police officers are not automatically suspended upon being charged with a crime; official guidelines permit suspension or the assignment of restricted duties, particularly in high-profile cases such as the murder of Sarah Everard.
