LONDON MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO ATTEMPTED MURDER OF PREGNANT FIANCÉE AND HER UNBORN CHILD
Petar Petrov, aged 31, was involved in a violent and disturbing attack on his heavily pregnant fiancée at their flat in Densworth Grove, north London, last August. He attempted to kill his 30-year-old partner and her unborn child before resulting to self-inflicted injuries, including a neck slash, and hurling himself through a first-floor window.
Following the attack, the injured woman was found with critical head and neck injuries, several facial fractures, severe lung bruising, and a stab wound to the face.
She was rushed to hospital and remains in a permanent vegetative state five months later, although her baby was delivered via emergency caesarean section and survived unharmed.
Petrov admitted to attempting murder and child destruction, and is set to be sentenced next month.
Detective Inspector Chris Skelt described the case as 'truly shocking', emphasizing the brutality of the act and praising the quick actions of bystanders who provided first aid and called emergency services.
Petrov was found unconscious outside the flat, with injuries indicating a fall from a height, and was taken to the Royal London Hospital where he was subsequently arrested.
Authorities highlighted that Petrov has not revealed his motive but strongly urged the public to report domestic abuse to prevent similar incidents in the future.
