WIDNES MAN JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT AFTER TRAVELING TO THAILAND
A man who sexually assaulted a woman inside a hotel room and then left for Thailand has been found guilty and sentenced.Paul Wright, 42 years old, committed the assault in the Sefton region on December 29, 2022.
Following the report from the victim, law enforcement launched an investigation which revealed that Wright, residing on Thomas Street in Widnes, had traveled to Thailand during this period.
A warrant was issued for his arrest, and he was detained upon his return to the UK on January 17.
On April 10, Wright was convicted of sexual assault at Liverpool Crown Court and received a sentence of two and a half years in prison.
Detective Constable Chris Condliff, who managed the case, highlighted the victim’s strength and emphasized that the police remain committed to combating violence against women and girls.
This case underscores the police’s ongoing efforts to protect victims and ensure that perpetrators are held accountable, with authorities emphasizing that such crimes will be met with firm justice.
