INVERNESS MAN JAILED FOR RAPING NURSE
A man who raped a nurse after ignoring her pleas to stop has been jailed for six years.Paul Ross, 23, of Inverness, attacked the woman at an address in the city in May 2013.
Ross was convicted of rape following a trial at the High Court in Aberdeen last month.
Sentence had been deferred to the High Court in Edinburgh for judge Lord Kinclaven to obtain reports about Ross's character.
Defence advocate Bill Adam told Lord Kinclaven that Ross had a difficult time growing up due to a brain injury.
He said that Ross accepted that he was being sent to prison and that he was committed to getting a job upon his release.
Lord Kinclaven told Ross that a prison sentence was the only disposal available to him.
He was also placed on the sex offenders register.
