VOYEUR WHO SECRETLY RECORDED STEVENAGE WOMAN JAILED
A voyeur who secretly recorded a Stevenage woman's "intimate sexual acts" has been jailed.Paul Norris, 67, of Lynton Way, Sawston, Cambridge, was found guilty of voyeurism between March 10, 2017 and August 28, 2018 at Peterborough Crown Court on October 10, and sentenced to eight months behind bars.
The court heard how the victim only discovered Norris had recorded their intimate sexual acts after she was contacted by another woman, who he had also been recording.
He denied the charge but was found guilty in July this year.
Norris was also handed a 10-year restraining order, a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and will be required to regularly sign in at a police station.
Detective Constable Alex Willians said: "Norris' actions violated the victim's right to privacy, and he has shown no remorse towards her." "The victim has been supportive throughout the court process, and she was keen to make other women aware of this type of detestable behaviour." "If you suspect you are being recorded, either by someone you know or a stranger, please report it." "Our priority is to safeguard victims, and we will do everything we can to put offenders before the courts.
I hope this sentence reassures women, girls and men that this is a criminal offence and that perpetrators could face time in jail."
