LONDON MAN JAILED FOR 15,000 EXPLICIT CALLS
A man identified as Paul Kavanagh, aged 41, has been sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison after admitting to making approximately 15,000 explicit phone calls to women over a span of 20 months.
Kavanagh, a market stall worker from Westbourne Park Road, west London, falsely claimed to be a market researcher for Marks & Spencer when making these calls.
The court heard that the calls often ended with Kavanagh describing his sexual intentions towards his victims, causing them significant distress.
The police tracked him down after gathering intelligence from his victims, who worked nearby his residence.
Kavanagh was arrested in July and pleaded guilty to causing a public nuisance.
During sentencing, Judge Peter Testar highlighted that Kavanagh was under the influence of alcohol and cocaine at the time of the offenses and emphasized the cruel impact of his actions, stating, "these calls for the purposes of sexual gratification and I must say to my mind for the purposes of cruelty." The court also imposed a four-year anti-social behavior order (Asbo) that prevents him from using his telephone to harass women.
