PAUL HILL, AYR SERIAL RAPIST AND PET ABUSER, SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS IN PRISON

Paul Hill, a man born around 1965 and residing on Kings Park Drive in Ayr, has been convicted of a series of heinous crimes that span over two decades.

His criminal activities include not only the sexual assault of four women but also a disturbing pattern of violence and cruelty towards animals, which he used as a means of exerting control and inflicting punishment on his victims.

Hill’s acts of animal cruelty are particularly shocking.

He drowned a pet parakeet belonging to a former partner, an act that exemplifies his sadistic tendencies.

In addition, he was responsible for killing a small kitten belonging to another woman, and he threw a cat out of a window belonging to yet another girlfriend.

These acts of violence against animals were not isolated incidents but part of a broader pattern of abusive behavior.

One woman recounted how Hill threatened to harm her Alsatian dog when she told him she was planning to leave him, further illustrating his violent and controlling nature.

The crimes committed by Hill took place across various locations in Scotland, including Aberdeen, Dundee, and the Tayside, Grampian, and Fife regions.

His offending history includes both sexual assaults and physical violence against women, with the court hearing that he had raped four women and physically assaulted eight others over a period stretching from 1987 to 2009.

During the sentencing at the High Court in Glasgow, Lord Mulholland condemned Hill’s conduct, stating, “You used coercive and controlling behaviour.

You abused and belittled them.

You harmed their pets as a way of punishing them.

Your behaviour was cruel and despicable.” The judge emphasized the severity of Hill’s actions, which included not only sexual violence but also acts of cruelty towards animals as a form of psychological torment.

Following his conviction, Hill was sentenced to serve 15 years in prison.

The court also ordered that he be monitored in the community for three years after his release, reflecting concerns about his potential risk to the public.

Hill’s defense lawyer, John McElroy, maintained that his client was innocent, asserting, “He continues to maintain his innocence.” Hill himself denied the allegations of sexual and violent offences, claiming that any sexual encounters were consensual.

He also attempted to justify his violent actions, including an incident where he strangled a 59-year-old grandmother at a Christmas party until her face turned purple, claiming he did so in self-defense after she drunkenly shouted, “I’m a killing machine.” Victims described Hill as an “evil psycho” who verbally abused, physically assaulted, strangled, and raped them.

One woman recounted how Hill attacked her after she placed a CD in his collection in the wrong order.

Another woman, a mother of two, tearfully explained how she took her children to her mother’s house after catching Hill having sex with another woman in their bed.

She revealed that Hill later called her, threatening to kill her family’s pet parakeets if she did not return.

She recounted, “I went home later on that night because I knew he wasn’t in the house.

The kids went into the house and they saw there was only one bird in the cage.

They found the other parrot drowned in the kitchen sink.

He drowned it, because the sink was filled up with water.” Another former girlfriend described how Hill destroyed her Tayside apartment after she left him due to his violent behavior.

She also revealed that Hill had killed her kitten, a small and innocent creature.

Additionally, Hill was convicted of throwing a woman’s cat out of a flat window in Kincorth, Aberdeen, an act that further underscores his cruelty.

One victim recounted how Hill’s face would change when she refused his sexual advances, describing his eyes turning dark and his demeanor becoming terrifyingly evil.

Hill appeared in court via video link for sentencing and was placed on the sex offenders’ register.

He was ultimately sentenced to 15 years in prison for his crimes, marking a significant and serious response to his long history of violence and abuse.
