MAN CHARGED WITH GREGGS SEXUAL ASSAULT AND EXPOSING GENITALS TO POLICE
A man is accused of sexually assaulting a woman in a Greggs shop, resisting arrest, and later exposing himself to police after "removing his trousers." Kyle Young appeared from custody at Ayr Sheriff Court, facing charges including grabbing a woman’s breast during the incident. The 35-year-old allegedly failed to provide his name, address, or date of birth to two officers at the Greggs on Ayr’s Allison Street on May 19 this year.
Prosecutors state that he resisted, obstructed, or hampered the police, purportedly tensing his arms, pushing, pulling, and refusing to support his weight to avoid being arrested.
He is also accused of acting in a threatening or abusive way, shouting, swearing, making offensive comments, and threatening violence.
The charges further allege that he gestured menacingly, made sexual remarks, and repeatedly spat inside a police vehicle.
Additionally, he is charged with intentionally exposing his genitals in a sexual manner to a police officer with the intent that he would see them.
Court documents detail that he removed his "trousers and undergarments" and "repeatedly manipulated his genitals towards" the officer while on bail granted on January 7 and March 16 at Ayr Sheriff Court.
Represented by defense lawyer Robert Logan, Young pleaded not guilty to the charges, with a trial scheduled.
Bail was denied due to concerns over his risk of reoffending, threat to the complainant, and danger to public safety, as he is described as "of no fixed abode," though he was previously from Catrine.
