2009: MAN CONVICTED OF SEXUAL ASSAULT ON DRUNK WOMAN
Paul Haggerty was found guilty of involvement in an assault at a property in the Barrhead area in May of the previous year.He was also convicted of another sexual assault on a woman who was intoxicated at the time.
During a hearing at Glasgow's High Court, Judge Lord McEwan stated that Haggerty had committed highly serious crimes and ordered his inclusion on the sex offenders' register.
The judge remarked, 'Regardless of what might be argued, these crimes are reckless and inexcusable, even for someone of your age.' Throughout the trial, Haggerty maintained his innocence, claiming that he had only visited the house to use a computer.
