PAISLEY MAN STRANGLES PARTNER DURING DOMESTIC DISPUTE, AWAITS SENTENCING
A man from Paisley who pinned his partner down and strangled her could be ordered to undertake a domestic abuse behaviour program. The offender, Connor Forrest, had been on a night out and returned to their home on May 18, where he and his partner continued an argument from earlier that evening.
The woman, who was highly distressed, attempted to end the confrontation, but Forrest climbed on top of her, seized her by the neck, pinned her to the bed, and strangled her.
She managed to free herself using a pre-arranged de-escalation technique and asked Forrest to take the dog for a walk.
The incident occurred around 4 am, and police found the woman extremely upset, unable to speak clearly due to distress, with superficial scratches and bruises.
Forrest was cautioned and taken to Greenock police station, where he made no reply to arrest.
His court case was adjourned, and sentencing was deferred for assessment of his suitability for the 'Up2U' domestic abuse program.
Forrest has no intention of reuniting with the woman.
His next court appearance is scheduled for August 29, awaiting sentencing and consideration of a non-harassment order.
