PAUL FYFIELD FROM HAVANT SENTENCED FOR CHILD ABUSE IN HORRIFIC CASES
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Havant, Paul Fyfield, a 46-year-old waste operative from Leigh Park, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being found guilty of multiple serious offenses involving the sexual abuse of children. The court proceedings revealed a pattern of heinous crimes that spanned several years, highlighting Fyfield's dangerous and predatory behavior.Fyfield's crimes came to light after a horrifying incident where the mother of one of his young victims walked in on him indecently assaulting her daughter. This distressing discovery prompted immediate police intervention, leading to a thorough investigation. During the search of Fyfield's residence and computer, authorities uncovered a staggering collection of over 43,000 images and videos depicting child sexual abuse. These illicit materials had been accumulated over just a few months, underscoring the extent of Fyfield's depravity.
Among the victims were two five-year-old girls, one of whom was subjected to repeated abuse over a four-year period. Additionally, a toddler aged just 18 months was also victimized, and there were credible threats made by Fyfield to assault a six-month-old baby girl. The severity of his actions and the potential danger he posed to children prompted the court to consider the possibility of an indeterminate sentence. Judge Gareth Cowling explicitly stated that Fyfield was a significant risk to the public, especially to children of all ages, and therefore, he should be detained indefinitely.
The father of the three victims, who requested anonymity for legal reasons, expressed his relief at the verdict, stating, “Prison is the best place for him. In prison, he is unable to damage other children and ruin people's lives. It is a great weight off our shoulders and hopefully Fyfield will never walk the streets again.”
Fyfield's criminal record was already extensive, with convictions dating back to the 1980s. His past included the heinous act of luring a 14-year-old boy into the woods and sexually assaulting him. Despite his history, Fyfield had managed to conceal his previous offenses from those around him, which only added to the shock of his latest crimes.
He was formally charged with four counts of indecent assault on children, ten counts of making indecent images of children, two counts of possessing indecent images, and one count of taking indecent images. The case against him was brought to Portsmouth Crown Court, where the severity of his offenses was thoroughly examined. Fyfield admitted to the charges, acknowledging his involvement in the abuse and the creation and possession of child sexual abuse images. His actions have left a lasting scar on the victims and their families, and the community of Havant now grapples with the aftermath of this disturbing case.
