In 2009, Paul Clarke, 41, and Lorraine Thorpe, then 15, murdered Rosalyn Hunt, 41, after a row over a dog.
Clarke was found to have beaten Rosalyn to death, subjected her to horrific torture—including attacking her with a cheese grater and rubbing salt in her wounds—after which she was beaten, stamped on, had her ribs broken, and was whipped with dog chains.
Thorpe and Clarke’s actions led to their convictions.
Thorpe, now 31, has been cleared for a move to an open prison, but the Parole Board said she needs to be tested in less restrictive conditions first.
Clarke was 41 at the time of his death in prison in 2014, and had been serving a life sentence with a minimum of 27 years.
Thorpe was 15 during the killings, and her judge in 2010 described her as "stubborn and manipulative," with a childhood marked by violence and instability, resulting in her being the youngest female double murderer in Britain.
Both Clarke and Thorpe denied the charges and refused to give evidence during trial.
