MAN WHO KIDNAPPED CHILD GETS NINE YEARS; PERVERT CHOKED GIRL, 12, AND TOOK HER TO BEDROOM, COURT TOLD.
A man from Coventry who forcibly took a frightened 12-year-old girl into his home and committed an indecent assault was today beginning a nine-year prison sentence.Paul Breakwell, aged 27, appeared before Coventry Crown Court yesterday and pleaded guilty to charges of false imprisonment and indecent assault.
The court was informed that the incident occurred after he saw the girl walk past his residence on Meadow Road, Holbrooks, on November 6.
According to the prosecution, Vicki Lofrese, the attacker was standing outside his house and called the girl over, claiming he needed her to deliver a letter.
She described the victim as 'naive, shy and quiet.' The girl approached him, and Breakwell seized her by the neck.
She yelled for help, but he tightened his grip until she lost consciousness.
Her next recollection was being pulled upstairs, waking up on his bed without her trousers and underwear.
She was eventually freed after promising he would not report the incident to the police.
She confided in her mother, leading to Breakwell’s arrest the following morning.
A psychological evaluation indicated that Breakwell suffered from an emotionally unstable personality disorder, which contributed to his impulsive behavior.
Another assessment indicated he posed a 'significant risk' of reoffending.
Janet Newman, representing Breakwell, acknowledged the seriousness of the act, stating, 'There is very little to say about the offence itself.
It is a truly dreadful act and Mr.
Breakwell accepts that.' She added that while there was no physical assault, removing the child's trousers and bringing her into his bedroom without proper consent still amounted to indecency.
At the time, Breakwell was on license for a four-year sentence for arson.
He received a concurrent three-year term for indecent assault and a nine-year sentence for false imprisonment.
He was also ordered to register as a sex offender for life.
Following the sentencing, Detective Constable Dean Young from Stoney Stanton Road CID expressed satisfaction that Breakwell's guilty plea avoided subjecting the young girl to a court ordeal.
He stated, 'We are pleased with the result, which takes an extremely dangerous man off the streets of Coventry.'
