FORMER TEACHER JAILED AFTER GROOMING
A man who was a teacher in Nottingham exploited his trusted position to groom two female students while employed at a local school.Patrick Thomas, aged 37 and formerly known by the name Josh Mills-Afford, admitted to engaging in sexual offenses involving the two girls he taught.
Police investigations began after the first girl reported the abuse in January 2025 and informed other staff members.
It was established that Thomas had sexual encounters with one girl on multiple occasions during December 2024 and January 2025.
The second girl also came forward to reveal that he had been abusive towards her from February 2022 to January 2023, during which she was under 18.
Thomas, who lives on Blake Road in West Bridgford, pleaded guilty to 10 counts of sexual activity with a minor in a position of trust.
He also admitted to creating an indecent image of a child.
On 21 May, at Nottingham Crown Court, he was sentenced to 22 months in prison.
Furthermore, he was subject to a seven-year restraining order forbidding contact with either victim and is required to register on the Sex Offenders' Register.
