HIGHLANDS MAN JAILED FOR EXPOSING HIMSELF
A man who exposed his genitals then his buttocks to people in cars in Inverness has been jailed for 160 days.Sheriff David Hall heard how a couple with two children in the rear of their car were driving along Coronation Park about 3.50pm on the afternoon of April 4 when Patrick Reid stepped out in front of them and exposed himself.
Depute fiscal Ruaridh McAllister told Inverness Sheriff Court the couple slowed down and 50 year-old Reid pointed towards his groin and looked towards the couple in the car.
They contacted the police and at 5.45pm the same day two women with children in the rear of their car were in Wyvis Place when they noticed Reid walk into the road ahead of them.
"He pulled down his trousers and boxer short and exposed his buttocks," said the fiscal.
Reid, who has been remanded since April 7 admitted intentionally exposing his genitals in a sexual manner on April 4 and committing an act of public indecency on the same day by exposing his buttocks towards the two women.
William Young said Reid had an extensive record but his last custodial sentence was in 2012.
"He had been drinking very heavily that day and was wandering aimlessly in that part of Inverness in a dishevelled condition.
"He was sporting two black eyes and it is suggested he may have been assaulted that day by the people he was drinking with." Jailing him for 160 days Sheriff David Hall said that type of behaviour could not be tolerated and they were compounded by the fact he two similar convictions in 2012 for which he had been given a community payback order in 2012.
