MAN WHO LOCKED FORMER PARTNER IN HOME AND SET IT ON FIRE IS JAILED
A man who trapped his former partner inside her home and set it on fire has been jailed.
Patrick Blenman, aged 56, assaulted his ex-partner, a woman aged 32, at a property located in Sandhurst during the early hours of 10 August 2021.
He subsequently secured her inside the house with a padlock and started a blaze at the front entrance.
The victim was forced to escape by leaping out of a third-floor window.
Blenham was taken into custody by Thames Valley Police on the day of the incident.
After a trial that concluded last month, a jury unanimously convicted Blenham of one count of assault, arson, and false imprisonment.
He was found not guilty of making threats to kill.
Blenham, who resides on Consort Avenue in Cambridge, received a prison sentence of two and a half years.
