EX-ARMY COLONEL JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULTS ON MILITARY STAFF
A former consultant and army colonel has been sentenced to four years in prison for carrying out sexual assaults on military personnel at Frimley Park Hospital.
Neil Ineson, 60, from Sandhurst in Berkshire, was convicted of 11 criminal offences committed at the hospital between 2008 and 2014 following a trial on April 4, 2017.
He was subsequently imprisoned for four years at Guildford Crown Court.
Due to a second trial related to a separate allegation of which he was found not guilty, details of the crimes were initially not reported.
Ineson has also been placed on the sex offenders register for ten years.
The incident involved him conducting intimate medical examinations on military personnel, which led to allegations of sexual misconduct.
The hospital trust, after receiving the first accusations in November 2014, suspended Ineson immediately, emphasizing that no prior concerns had arisen.
The trust further reviewed its medical examination policies, ensuring chaperones would be present regardless of the patient's or clinician's sex.
An apology was issued to the victims, expressing regret for their suffering caused by Ineson's actions.
