NEWPORT MAN JAILED FOR STALKING WOMAN
Between September and December of the previous year, Oscar Pennacchi attempted to reach his victim nearly every day, Cardiff Crown Court was informed.Prosecutor Byron Broadstock stated that there were instances where 36-year-old Pennacchi issued threats to his victim, warning her he would kill her.
Pennacchi was detained twice in December and was released on bail under the condition that he did not approach or communicate with his victim.
Despite these restrictions, he violated his bail conditions shortly after each release.
Following his third arrest, he was remanded into custody.
A statement from Pennacchi’s victim was read out, revealing she experienced panic attacks and sleep disturbances.
She described feeling fearful, confused, and withdrawing from daily activities, despite not having done anything wrong.
Defence lawyer Scott Bowen acknowledged that Pennacchi, who has no prior criminal record, recognised his conduct as "abhorrent" and understood it could not be justified.
Pennacchi, residing on Somerton Road in Newport, admitted guilt at an earlier court hearing to stalking and causing his victim to fear violence.
Judge Christopher Vosper condemned Pennacchi’s unsettling behaviour, noting that his actions had significantly impacted the victim’s life.
Pennacchi was sentenced to 36 weeks in prison and issued a five-year restraining order.
This order forbids him from contacting his victim, entering her street, or approaching her at any workplace, past or present.
