MAN EXPOSED HIMSELF IN CARDIFF PARK, SENTENCED TO 16 MONTHS
A man exposed himself to a mother and daughter in a Cardiff park after while under the influence of alcohol.He had earlier reversed into an ambulance.
John Lamont, 28, was at Cemetery Park in Adamsdown in March this year when he pulled down his trousers and pants and exposed his genitals and buttocks.
This was witnessed by a mother and daughter in a busy park which also contained a children's playground, a sentencing hearing at Cardiff Crown Court heard.
In his sentencing remarks Recorder Paul Lewis KC said: "Your explanation for your behaviour was drinking.
I don't regard that in mitigation – it's an aggravating feature." At the time of this offence Lamont was due to appear in court for traffic offences which involved him reversing into an ambulance.
On July 8, 2025, he was driving a Renault Arkana SUV, which had been taken without the owner's consent, along Cathedral Road and Cowbridge Road East.
He overtook the ambulance before reversing into that vehicle and driving off.
The defendant then mounted a kerb, drove over the central reservation, and struck bollards before getting the Renault stuck.
Recorder Lewis said: "Your manner of driving was appalling.
You were intoxicated at the time of your driving and refused to provide a specimen for analysis.
You had been using cocaine and had been drinking." Lamont, of Monnow Way, Bettws, Newport, later pleaded guilty to outraging public decency, dangerous driving, and failing to stop.
The court heard he has 10 previous convictions with his most recent offence for shoplifting.
In mitigation Pamela Kaiga said her client was "remorseful and shameful" about his behaviour and the impact on the people who witnessed him exposing himself.
The defence barrister said Lamont was from a "difficult background" and suffered significant trauma in his childhood.
The defendant recently lost his father and brother, which caused him to rely more on alcohol and drugs.
Recorder Lewis sentenced Lamont to a total of 16 months imprisonment.
