'THIS IS MY CHILD NOW' - CRUEL OSASERE ISAAC GRABBED GIRL, 5, AND TRIED TO STAB HER WITH SCISSORS IN HORRIFIC CITY CENTRE ATTACK
A woman who pointed scissors at a five-year-old girl in a crowded town center has been sentenced to over eleven years in prison. On August 23 last year, Osasere Isaac ambushed the young girl from behind as she was walking with her family in Barnsley town center.
She shouted, 'this is my child now,' and held her dress scissors close to the child's face.
Her attempt to stab the girl was thwarted when the child's mother and grandmother, showing bravery, pulled her away.
The incident drew the attention of bystanders who responded to the family’s cries for help.
However, Isaac, aged 30 and formerly from Windermere Road, Barnsley, directed verbal abuse and threats at those trying to assist before fleeing the scene.
In court at Sheffield Crown on March 5, she pleaded guilty to charges of false imprisonment and possession of a bladed weapon in a public place.
She received a sentence of 11 years and eight months, having admitted guilt in a prior hearing in November.
Investigator Vick Stephanek commented: 'Isaac's conduct was extremely malicious, targeting an innocent child enjoying a day out.
I want to praise the bravery of the child’s mother and grandmother, as well as the members of the public who intervened and provided vital evidence." He continued, 'This was undoubtedly a terrifying experience for the family, and I hope this sentence helps them find some peace and move forward.'
