MAN WHO SEXUALLY ASSAULTED A 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL WHILE SERVING A SUSPENDED SENTENCE FOR STALKING HIS EX-GIRLFRIEND HAS BEEN JAILED
Sheffield Crown Court was informed that Kieron Oldham circulated sexual messages and images to the victim via social media before assaulting her in a park in June 2025.Oldham, aged 27 from Barnsley, admitted to engaging in sexual communication with a girl under 16 and to coercing a female aged 13 or older into a sexual act involving penetration.
He was initially sentenced to four years and eight months in prison, with an additional year for breaching a suspended sentence.
The judge also announced that Oldham would serve another two years on licence after release.
Additionally, Oldham is required to register as a sex offender and must adhere to a sexual harm prevention order.
A restraining order was issued against him, prohibiting contact with children in employment situations.
Prosecutor Helen Chapman recounted that Oldham approached the victim and her friend in a Barnsley park, engaging them in conversation and inquiring about their ages.
The friend later described how Oldham had been observing her friend’s appearance and took cover when a passerby came near.
Later that day, Oldham befriended the victim on Facebook and invited her onto Snapchat, through which he sent her sexual images and messages.
The next day, the victim posted a Snapchat update showing her at the same park, which included contacts like Oldham.
Oldham then appeared at the location, exposed himself to her, repeatedly asked her for sex, and ultimately assaulted her sexually after she refused his advances.
The prosecution highlighted Oldham’s ‘predatory’ conduct, noting that the offence was worsened by the fact it occurred in front of another child.
Judge Charles Thomas remarked that the crime involved careful planning and was made worse by the victim’s age difference, emphasising that Oldham was effectively twice her age.
He described the prior 24-hour online interactions as grooming.
The court was told Oldham had four previous convictions, none related to sexual offences.
One involved stalking his ex-partner, and the victim in that case described Oldham as having a persistent sexual interest in young girls.
The judge pointed out that this history indicated the recent offence was unlikely to be an isolated incident.
Oldham was sentenced to a lengthy term to safeguard the public.
He also pleaded guilty to two motoring violations, resulting in six penalty points on his driving licence.
