CHILD RAPIST JAILED FOR OVER 12 YEARS

Jake Kitching, who resides in Worsbrough Bridge, appeared in Sheffield Crown Court where the judge sentenced him to 12 years and three months behind bars for various sexual offenses committed against a young girl.
The sentence underscores the severity, duration, and recurrent nature of the abuse, which took place when the victim was between nine and twelve years old.
The court was informed that Kitching committed oral, anal, and vaginal rapes on the girl repeatedly over a prolonged period.
Details of the abuse came to light after police encountered Kitching regarding unrelated issues such as driving without a license and possession of illegal drugs, including Class A, B, and C substances.
During a search of his home, authorities found used condoms stored in a bedroom drawer, which played a crucial role as evidence in the case and prompted the victim to reveal her experiences.
Law enforcement confirmed that physical evidence from the search and the victim’s subsequent disclosure to her mother and detectives contributed to the prosecution's case.
Legislation under the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 1992 prevents the publication of the victim’s identity, which is safeguarded for life.
In sentencing, the judge emphasized the serious nature of the crimes and the profound impact on the child, highlighting the importance of harsh sentences for sexual offenses involving minors to ensure public safety and justice.
Kitching was detained at the time of sentencing and immediately commenced serving his prison term after the hearing.
