INFLUENCER SENTENCED FOR 4-MONTH STALKING CAMPAIGN TARGETING CHELSEA FOOTBALLER
An influencer known as Orla Melissa Sloan, aged 22, has been sentenced for a stalking campaign targeting Chelsea footballer Mason Mount.Sloan used 21 different phone numbers to bombard Mount with messages over a period of four months.
The court heard that Mount became increasingly worried she would appear at his training ground in Cobham, Surrey.
Sloan also engaged in inappropriate conduct with Mount on at least one occasion, sleeping with him after they met at a party in November 2020.
Prosecutor Jason Seetal stated that 'He said: "Upon informing Ms Sloan of this, he has been subjected to a bombardment of messages.
He began asking her to stop messaging him before blocking the number.
He then began to receive messages from new numbers and each time he would block those numbers, there would be messages from a different number."' Sloan also made a similar campaign against Mount's ex-teammate Billy Gilmour and caused harassment to another Chelsea star, Ben Chilwell.
She pleaded guilty to stalking and harassment and was sentenced to a 12-week prison term, suspended for 18 months.
Additionally, she was ordered to complete 30 days of rehabilitation and 200 hours of unpaid work.
The court described her actions as displaying obsession or fixation, with Mount expressing concern about her capabilities.
Her lawyer, Michael Cogan, noted that Sloan was 'naive' and remorseful, recognizing that a relationship with Mount would not develop.
She was also found guilty of causing harassment to Gilmour and Chilwell.
