BOURNEMOUTH RAPIST OLIVIER PLUNKETT SENTENCED TO LIFE FOR SAVAGE ASSAULT
A SERIAL rapist who subjected a 19-year-old Bournemouth woman to "acts of utter degradation" has been sentenced to life imprisonment after a judge described him as a public danger.Bournemouth Crown Court heard that chef Olivier Plunkett, aged 33, from Walpole Road, Boscombe, carried out a "savage, sustained assault" on his victim.
Plunkett, a French national, admitted to charges of rape, causing grievous bodily harm with intent, and sexually assaulting his victim using a whisky bottle and a knife handle.
The police found the woman, who was partially clothed, badly injured and in a serious condition, after his attack.
She had deep wounds, swelling, and was in shock, with pools of blood present.
Plunkett initially claimed an intruder had attacked her, but police found evidence of brutality including a head injury and severe injuries throughout her body.
The court revealed that Plunkett had prior convictions for sex assaults in France in 1993, involving weapons, and in England where another woman claimed she was raped.
His defense argued he suffered from a personality disorder and had addressed his issues while imprisoned.
The judge sentenced him to life with a minimum of seven years and three months before possible parole, and ordered registration on the sex offenders' register for life, banning him from working with children."
