HAVERFORDWEST MAN JAILED FOR BRUTAL PARTNER ATTACK
A man named Oliver Torkington has been convicted of launching a brutal, sustained, and merciless assault on his partner after a night out.
The court heard that Torkington became jealous because his partner had spoken to a doorman and had dated others during their split.
He punched, strangled, stamped on her, and used a thin piece of metal to repeatedly whip her during the attack, which resulted in her suffering a broken finger and ringing in her ear.
Torkington also took her phone to prevent her from calling for help.
It was revealed that he has 16 previous convictions for 24 offences, including multiple attacks on police and other assaults.
During the sentencing at Swansea Crown Court, the judge described his actions as 'brutal, sustained and merciless' and called him 'a coward and a bully' who falsely claimed self-defense.
Torkington was sentenced to two years and nine months in prison and a five-year restraining order was imposed.
The judge criticized his maturity, insecurity, and jealousy, highlighting the seriousness of his violence and warning him about future treatments towards others, including possibly his own daughter.
