BIRMINGHAM MAN JAILED FOR LIFE FOR BRUTAL AXE MURDER OF WIFE
A 42-year-old man, Norbert Chikerema, was convicted of murdering his wife, Nyasha Kahari, using an axe at a Lidl store in Birmingham.
The motive was linked to his suspicion that she was engaged in an affair.
Police attended the scene on 30 January and found Mrs.
Kahari with devastating head injuries in the car park on Mackadown Lane, Tile Cross.
The bloodstained axe was located inside her vehicle.
During court proceedings at Birmingham Crown Court, it was reported that Chikerema was 'jealous and paranoid.' He declared that he was 'not of sound mind' at the time, entering a plea of not guilty based on diminished responsibility.
However, prosecutors noted that the attack appeared to involve 'a degree of advanced planning,' evidenced by his taking the axe out to the car that night.
The court sentenced him to life imprisonment with a minimum sentence of 22 years before parole can be considered.
