NIKOLAI LIZUNOVS OF WOLVERHAMPTON FOUND GUILTY OF CRIMINAL DAMAGE AND STRANGULATION

Nikolai Lizunovs, 42, from Charles Wellesley Court in Wolverhampton, chose to represent himself at Walsall Magistrates Court during his trial, despite not speaking English. He was ultimately found guilty and received a sentence at Wolverhampton Crown Court for two counts of criminal damage and intentional strangulation.

The case involves his ongoing relationship with his partner. Although they separated in 2022, Lizunovs and his partner continued living together in Smethwick. In September 2023, he returned home to find her planning to fly to Latvia with their daughter. This triggered an outburst, during which he smashed her iPhone, destroyed her passport, and strangled her, leading to the criminal charges.
