SUTTON PAEDOPHILE POSED AS DOCTOR AND TARGETED BOYS FOR DECADES, JAILED FOR 330 YEARS
Nigel Clayton, a convicted paedophile who impersonated a doctor and exploited vulnerable young males over a span of four decades, has received a sentence of 330 years imprisonment. He targeted boys and young men lacking paternal guidance, gaining their confidence through gifts and small jobs.
Clayton also operated out of his garage office—claiming to own the business—and even set up a bed inside for his abusive activities.
Posing as a child development expert, he justified his misconduct and took nude photos of victims, suggesting they could become models.
His offending ranged from 1976 to 2017, with police noting he deliberately chose individuals who were susceptible and manipulated them into silence.
In May, a jury at Croydon Crown Court found him guilty of 31 charges, including sexual assault, rape, and possession of indecent images.
His arrest followed a victim’s disclosure in 2016, which led police to identify seven victims and arrest him in February.
Detective Constable Candice Burley described Clayton as a "predatory and manipulative offender" who targeted vulnerable young boys, some enduring abuse for over three decades.
Authorities suspect additional victims may exist and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward, assuring support from trained officers.
Clayton, who denied all charges, faced a series of serious sexual offence counts committed mainly in south London, including an incident at a funeral.
His case highlights the enduring impact of his sexual crimes and the importance of victims speaking out to seek justice.
