ANDREW BRAY SENT BACK TO JAIL IN SUTTON FOR ONLINE SEX OFFENSES
A man with a troubling history of sexual offenses has been re-incarcerated after being caught in a disturbing online sting operation. The individual, identified as 52-year-old Andrew Bray, was found to be engaging in inappropriate and illegal communications with someone he believed to be a 13-year-old girl. In reality, Bray was interacting with a member of an online activist group dedicated to exposing such predatory behavior, who then promptly alerted law enforcement authorities.Bray’s arrest took place at his residence in Sutton on December 22 of the previous year. During the police operation, Bray demonstrated a grim sense of awareness about the consequences he faced, openly predicting that he would 'go back to prison' as a result of his actions. The investigation revealed that Bray had been exchanging messages on a social media platform, where he encouraged the supposed young girl to participate in explicit acts. Despite initially claiming to be truthful in his communications, Bray refused to cooperate or answer questions during police interviews, displaying a clear reluctance to admit his intentions.
Eventually, Bray confessed to attempting to incite a girl into sexual activity. He also acknowledged that he had violated a sexual harm prevention order that had been previously imposed on him following a past offense. This order was specifically designed to prevent him from engaging in online activities that could harm children. Bray, who formerly resided on Willowbridge Lane in Sutton, appeared before Nottingham Crown Court on March 31. The court sentenced him to a term of eight years in prison, reflecting the seriousness of his offenses.
Detective Constable Sophie Lee from Nottinghamshire Police emphasized the danger posed by individuals like Bray, stating, “Men like Bray pose an active threat to children, seeking to manipulate and harm them for personal sexual gratification. Fortunately, no actual child was harmed this time.” She further added, “However, online predators like Bray can cause long-lasting psychological damage to vulnerable children. I am pleased he has been returned to jail where he cannot do further harm.”
